Joss Whedon done with Television? In a recent interview with Rolling Stone Magazine, Joss Whedon suggested that he may start focusing his creative energies on internet projects instead of television.  Many stories have circulated about FOX’s intrusions on the creative process of Whedon’s latest series Dollhouse, and that show’s poor debut performance in the ratings may lead to the network quickly pulling the plug on it.  However, Whedon had great success last year with his internet-only web series Dr. Horrible’s Sing-Along-Blog which he had complete creative control over.  With production on the initial thirteen episode order of Dollhouse now complete, he is currently working on an unnamed project (not related to Dr. Horrible) which is targeted to bow on the web.

Clone Wars gets 2nd Season: Coming as no big surprise, The Cartoon Network has announced that the animated Star Wars series will continue into a second season.  The show has been a ratings boon for the network on Friday nights, especially among boys between 2 and 14 (my four year old loves the show).  Still, even if the series had not delivered good ratings, I’m sure George Lucas would have funded its continuation himself as he is currently pulling in a mint on the merchandising tie-ins alone.  Expect this one to stay on the air until he gets tired of producing it.

More Pilots Orders: The pilot season continues to churn out offerings with a couple more announcements in the Science Fiction and Fantasy vein.  ABC has picked up a pilot for No Heroics, which sounds kind of like an anti-Heroes.  Based on a British comedy series, it focuses on a group of superheroes with marginal powers who spend most of their time hanging out at a bar (which makes me nostalgic for FOX’s The Tick from 2001).  Nickelodeon is moving forward with Earth to Pablo, a comedy about a family that receives an alien instead of the exchange student they were expecting.  This one comes from That 70’s Show Veterans Wilmer Valderrama and Phil Stark.  Coming as no surprise, CBS has yet to announce any Science Fiction and Fantasy pilots as they continue to show their aversion to the genre.  However, former Jericho executive producer Carol Barbee did get a pickup for her medical drama Three Rivers.

Ratings Results for the Week of February 8th: FOX’s Friday night lineup of The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Dollhouse performed well below expectations in its initial outing.  Heroes numbers slid for the second episode of Volume 4.  (Read the Full Story)
