Medium Confirmed for One More, Chuck Still Waiting: As NBC prepares for its infront with advertisers today, word on the street is that low-rated, fan favorite Chuck will get the greenlight for one more season. According to a TV.com article, both The Hollywood Reporter and Variety are currently indicating that the series will return. The show has pulled anemic ratings in its second season, but then so have many of fourth place NBC’s programs. The final decision on Chuck may not come until after today, though, providing a bit more nail-biting time for anxious fans. Chuck’s Monday night companion, Medium, has received a pickup for a sixth season according to The Hollywood Reporter’s Live Feed. It will come back as a mid-season replacement but not in the 10 PM EST slot on Mondays, because Jay Leno will own that hour beginning in Fall. Not mentioned so far is the middle hour of this year’s Monday night Science Fiction and Fantasy block, Heroes. But then NBC has already announced their intentions to bring this one back, so we are assuming they have not changed their mind on its renewal.
Hulu Gets Lost: Disney has announced that it will become a partner with online video service Hulu.com. This will allow the web service to start streaming current Disney, ABC, and ABC Family shows which would include Lost (and hopefully ABC Family’s recently cancelled The Middleman). Disney will also open up its vaults to classic shows owned by the company which could bring quite a number of Science Fiction and Fantasy favorites to Hulu. There is no word at this point, though, on which older shows will make their way to the site.
True Blood Preview: Cable pay channel HBO has released a teaser to the upcoming second season of True Blood on its website: www.hbo.com/trueblood/video.html. The vampire series based on Charlaine Harris’ Southern Vampire novels returns with all new episodes starting on June 14th. (Stay tuned to Axiom’s Edge for a full preview of this Summer’s Science Fiction and Fantasy offerings on television.)
