Update – Fringe to Remain on the Edge for Another Season, and Chuck has to Wait Until Next Week for Final Word

FOX got a jump on next week’s infronts with advertisers and announced that they would pick up Fringe for a full second season order of 22 episodes. The announcement comes as no big surprise as we have been predicting the renewal for some time. Fringe ranked as the top new series in the 18-49 demographic this season, beating out its timeslot competitor The Mentalist, though that one took top honors among new shows in total viewers.
As far as Chuck is concerned, he will have to wait until May 19th for the final word on his fate. The current rumors have the show getting renewed despite its poor ratings performance this season, but official word will not come until NBC sets its schedule on the 19th. That date is also when the network will announce its official plans for Medium for next season. Word coming out of the infronts is that the supernatural drama has received a sixth season pickup, but they are just trying to decide where it will fit on the schedule and how many episodes it will have. All of this involves the behind the scenes wheeling and dealing that goes on at this time of year and will certainly keep Chuck fans on the edge of their seats until NBC finalizes their schedule.
Next week, ABC, CBS, FOX, and the CW have their infronts with the advertisers, so stay tuned to this site (you can follow us on Twitter) for more announcements on pickups, renewals, and cancellations.
