While surfing around the net this past week and looking for some stories of interest, I stumbled across several where the real world we live in is starting to look a bit more like the future we have been predicting in Science Fiction stories. So I decided to go with that theme this week, at least across the first six links.
First, Dr. Richard Obousy, who has pioneered research on the possibilities of warp drive, has proposed a scientifically accurate warpship. The Discovery Channel site has photos and more info on his design.
Obousy’s warp drive would depend on the ability to harness the power of “dark energy” and as luck would have it, the Sanford Lab has dedicated an underground science fortress to research of dark matter. This lab is 5,000 feet underground where it can be completely shielded from any cosmic radiation.
And do you think that Jurassic Park could never really happen (Ross from Friends does)? Well you might want to know that scientists have brought back to life a 120,000 year old bug. It is nothing more than a tiny microbe, but it is living again.
The movie Moon debuts on July 17th and looks at the possibility of humans mining an energy source from our orbiting satellite. An article in Scientific American considers whether this speculation could become reality.
At this point in the Summer, you have to wonder if Global Warming really is here and a group of researchers have speculated that evolution within species speeds up as the temperature rises. Does that mean that when Global Warming is in full force that we will have an abundance of X-Men running about?
Meanwhile, a report from the British Ministry of Defense has pondered potential threats we could see in a grim future which would include revolution, flashmobs, and brain chips.
Getting back to Science Fiction and Fantasy (with a little politics thrown in), Paul Waldman of The American Prospect ponders whether Zombie stories tend to lean to the left! Does that perhaps means that Vampire stories are right-wing propaganda, or how does all that work?
And to wrap up on a more light-hearted note, Brandon Root of the Spiteful Critic proposes that Star Wars, Star Trek, The Matrix, and Harry Potter are all really the same movie!

You may think we have a lot of movies to chose from this Summer, but Den of Geek has the low-down on 36 upcoming movies in various stages of production including an adaptation of William Gibson’s Neuromancer, a remake of Fantastic Voyage, and a new Heavy Metal movie.
Already having Lost withdrawels? Well you could (shameless plug to follow) buy up the past seasons on DVD to help, and you can also read Matthew Fox’s comments on the final season where he tells as that (unlike Battlestar Galactica) they are not just making it up as they go.
Ronald D. Moore’s Virtuality will air on FOX on June 26th, and he insists that it is not just an extended Star Trek holo-deck episode.
ABC’s remake of V bows early in 2010, in the mean time, John Kenneth Muir reflects on the original series from the 1980’s. And speaking of V, original series star Marc Singer likes the idea of the remake and would be interested in participating.
Lastly, Bryan Fuller, who has recently returned to Heroes to help right the ship, insists that the ailing franchise will return to form in its fourth season.

Following are a few posts of interest that we have seen over the past week or so on blogs and sites that cover Science Fiction and Fantasy. If you see something you would like to share, send us the link at mail@axiomsedge-scifi.com.
Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles was cancelled by FOX and series creator Josh Friedman has written a post to address the shows fans. Also, in an interview with i09.com, he assures the fans that the show is really over.
And speaking of i09.com and The Terminator, that site gives a road test comparison on whether Terminator 4 is really better than Terminator 3.
The possibility of a Green Lantern movie is still being tossed about which as prompted a fan to make case (which includeds a video) for Nathan Fillion in the title role. Fillion’s comment? “I LOVE THIS! this guy rocks!”
There’s a lot of Science Fiction and Fantasy television shows out there, but mentalfloss.com wants you to know about these 6 Sci-Fi TV shows you probably didn’t see.
In keeping with our Summer of Star Trek theme, eatsleepgeek.com has a tip on plans for a Trek Video encyclopedia with over 500 hours of unseen footage.
And finally one more Trek related piece as Greg Hatcher over at Comic Book Resources points out that the new movie is not the first revision of the Star Trek universe as the franchise has been re-inventing itself for years.

All of you aspiring screen-writers take note because an unknown fanboy got the opportunity to pen the new He-Man movie: Hey, You. Yeah, You. Think You Can Make Something Out of Grayskull?
